COVID-19 And Public Nuisance

COVID-19 Curfew

COVID-19 And Public Nuisance

With paramount fears and a rising paranoia, this nationwide lockdown has turned out to be a gift that keeps on giving. Even though the nation is taking an active part in the whole social distancing program, it is quite unfortunate to see how low we as people can go.

The following took place as and when the curfew set in motion:

  • Wrongful Curfew Pass Requests: The Chandigarh Administration has been taking numerous initiatives to make this curfew a little easier for the people to cope with. One such initiative was the curfew pass allowance. By registering yourself with the curfew pass, anyone can come outside their house. The curfew pass is only allotted to those in emergency, vegetable and milk vendors out for delivery and members of essential services.

Since the onset of the pass, thousands of people have been jamming the helpline to get themselves a curfew pass. One person wanted the pass to go out for a brisk walk while the other wanted to walk his dog. One person just wanted to get a haircut and thus, the pass.

The authorities were heavily tired because of all these spam requests. They even had a press release, trying to explain to people why the curfew was put in in the first place!

  • Vegetable Vendors Mooching Off People: Because the curfew was set in for a period of 3 weeks, it was not possible for anyone to get food supplies which may last as long. For this, the administration went ahead and allowed vegetable vendors to deliver the food items to every household on a public vehicle. The prices of the veggies were fixed at standard rates which will fit everyone’s pocket. The vendors took advantage of the vulnerability of the general public and hiked the prices on their own in order to earn a nasty profit. People, out of necessity, even had to pay 2-3 times the standard rates!
  • No Cops, No Curfew: Even though most of us are well educated, as soon as the cops go for a quick stroll elsewhere, we jump out of our houses to grab some air. This may be acceptable with one or two people on a road for maybe a few minutes.

The folks of villages adjacent to Chandigarh came to the streets, all at once, as soon as the cops went away. The shops opened up and people started gathering in large groups, just for “fresh air”. The entire agenda of the curfew, along with the cops’ meditated efforts, went down the drain!

With such an erratic behavior in view, defeating the pandemic will remain a distant dream. People should start taking this menace seriously. One should not wait for something bad to happen to a loved one because if it does happen, there is no going back. For any medical online assistance Login to www.astocare.com
